Jay Graham founded GLA in 1984. First trained as an architect at the University of Virginia, he stayed on to pursue a Master of Landscape Architecture because of an interest in the impact of the spaces between buildings. With that comprehensive background, a key feature of his design work is the union of built and natural elements in the landscape. Jay enjoys collaborating with clients and their architects to blend clients’ goals with their property.
A Maryland native, influenced by his travels in this country and abroad, Jay seeks to have each design tell the story of the land, the times, and the people. Jay welcomes the renewed interest in native plants since he sees them as important markers of place.
